Vacant hotel rooms in northern Florida are in short supply, with Hurricane Milton evacuees seeking temporary lodging.

Hotel inventory appears to be nonexistent in markets like Ocala and Gainesville, with room availability running low as far north as Tallahassee.

In response to this lodging shortage, hotels and resorts across Florida and other neighboring states are extending special discounted rates and waiving fees for evacuees.

Earlier this week, Rosen Hotels & Resorts activated Florida Resident Distress Rates across its Orlando-area portfolio, offering rooms at its Rosen Inn International, Rosen Inn near Universal, Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando and Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista hotels for $69 per night; the Rosen Plaza for $99 per night; the Rosen Centre for $119 per night; and the Rosen Shingle Creek for $139 per night. All of the properties are pet-friendly, with no pet fees for distress rates.

South Beach Group Hotels, which has 16 properties in the Miami Beach market, is offering a $75 rate for evacuees across its entire portfolio. South Beach Group includes the Catalina Hotel & Beach Club, Riviera South Beach, Hotel Croydon and Metropole South Beach.

Tanglewood Resort on Lake Texoma in Texas is extending a Distress Rate to Floridian residents. The resort, which is roughly an 11-hour drive from Florida, is offering rooms for $59 per night and waiving its resort fee for evacuees.

The Collegiate Hotel, a boutique property in Auburn, Alabama, took to social media to announce a $99 rate for Florida evacuees.

South Carolina's Vacation Myrtle Beach is offering a $39 rate to Florida evacuees at its Hotel Blue and Captains Quarters Resort. The company is also extending a $49 rate at its Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark.
